Civil Rights Summer 2002
Civil Rights Summer is committed to creating a framework that will support and encourage young people to realize and utilize their power to effect change in their communities, and most importantly, that will propel youth into action.
This framework includes the following core components:
Training and Education: Intensive academic study, speakers, panels, workshops, group discussions, group projects
Full Scholarship: Tuition, travel, housing, living stipend
Field Placements: Living the movement with today's leaders
Mentors: Ensuring the best possible internship experience
Exposure to National Leaders: Meet some of the nation's leading historians and political scientists, as well as 'Inside the Beltway' sources and heads of civil rights and social justice organizations.
A Network of Friends: A circle of friends and colleagues from all over the country and almost every imaginable background
An Alumni Network: Connect with current, past, and future CRS alumni
Potential for College Credit: CRS as independent study
