The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights

Thank you for all of your efforts to urge your senators to support the American Jobs Act (S. 1660).

But in a greatly disappointing vote on October 11th, the Senate voted to stop consideration of the American Jobs Act. This is simply unacceptable. The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and many other organizations supported this bill because it would have helped millions of Americans get back on their feet and revitalized our nation’s economy.

The senators who voted NO on the American Jobs Act should be ashamed of themselves for voting to stop the bill before it could be debated. Instead of voting to consider solutions during these challenging economic times, these senators ignored the voices of Americans all over the country who need jobs.
