Tell Senators to #StopSessions

Tell Senators to #StopSessions

Take Action Now:

Take Action: Senators have returned to Washington for the 115th Congress, and one of the first things they will do is consider President-Elect Trump’s nominee for attorney general, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions. Join in making calls (877-959-6082) on January 5 to tell senators to #StopSessions from becoming the next U.S. Attorney General.

Sessions’ Record - Something to Hide?

President-Elect Trump’s nominee for Attorney General of the United States, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), submitted a woefully incomplete set of responses to the questionnaire required of him for consideration.  Even after supplementing his questionairre, it was still astonishingly deficient.  In effect, Sen. Sessions’ refusal to fully respond to what is essentially a job application for this cabinet position is cause for concern and enough of a reason to delay Senate Judiciary Committee hearings until additional information is submitted. Senators must be told to delay the Senate Judiciary Committee’s January 10 hearing until Sen. Sessions submits information about his full record. Make a call (877-959-6082) today – and again on January 5 – to call for delay and to #StopSessions from being confirmed as U.S. Attorney General.

A Troubling Record

Sen. Sessions cannot hide from his public record of 45 years. He has a long, troubling record against civil and human rights, including the following causes for concern:
      •    Called the Voting Rights Act “intrusive” as it seeks to protect eligible minority voters
      •    Opposed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act
      •    Opposed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, and the reauthorization of the Violence against Women Act in 2013.
