Honorable Edward W. Brooke
Brooke was the first black ever elected to the Senate by popular vote and only the third black ever to serve in the United States Senate.
Honorable Peter Rodino
First elected as United States Congressman for the 10th District of New Jersey, Rodino was chairman of the House Judiciary Committee during the presidential impeachment hearings of 1973-1974. He is considered "one of the true giants of Congress" for his relentless battle for civil rights.
