Tipper Gore
In addition to Gore's dedicated activism in mental health, she established the Congressional Wives' Task Force, which publicized childhood nutrition and the effect of television violence on children, and founded a coalition to raise awareness of homelessness, Families for the Homeless.
Dolores Huerta
One of the century's most powerful and respected labor movement leaders, Huerta left teaching and co-founded the United Farm Workers with Cesar Chavez in 1962. Huerta has raised her own 11 children while organizing for the labor movement.
