Perez is an eminently qualified public servant and consensus builder who has dedicated his career to ensuring that all individuals are treated fairly and have the opportunity to succeed. He has served with integrity and distinction at the local, state and national level, compiling an outstanding record of achievement.

In addition to Gore's dedicated activism in mental health, she established the Congressional Wives' Task Force, which publicized childhood nutrition and the effect of television violence on children, and founded a coalition to raise awareness of homelessness, Families for the Homeless.
One of the century's most powerful and respected labor movement leaders, Huerta left teaching and co-founded the United Farm Workers with Cesar Chavez in 1962. Huerta has raised her own 11 children while organizing for the labor movement.
