partnersagainsthate.org Unveils New Look
Feature Story by civilrights.org staff - 5/6/2003
www.partnersagainsthate.org, an innovative collaboration of three of the nation's leading hate crime prevention and civil rights organizations, has an updated look that provides streamlined navigation and new features.Partners Against Hate, a national youth violence education and prevention project, is a joint effort of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund (LCCREF), and the Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence (CPHV), and is funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and the U.S. Department of Education, Safe and Drug-Free Schools Program.
The program blends outreach, public education, and training to help all sectors of the community address the problem of juvenile hate crime. A disproportionately high percentage of both the victims of hate violence and the perpetrators are young people under 18 years of age.
Among the new initiatives highlighted on the web site is a Hate Crime Response and Prevention Training program designed to provide school resource officers with key information and skills for intervening in incidents of bias-motivated behavior and degrading slurs within schools. Additionally, the training will provide school resource officers with an understanding of key tasks involved in responding to and investigating hate crimes. The training will be held in Nashua, New Hampshire on June 2, 2003. The deadline for registration is May 9, 2003.
