Protecting the Right to Vote On May 20, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing to examine some of the barriers that may keep Americans from exercising their right to vote. The hearing addressed voter suppression, restrictive voter ID laws, and other inadequacies of the U.S. electoral system.
