Judge Neil Gorsuch: Nominee for U.S. Supreme Court

On January 31, 2017, President Trump announced his nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia.  Gorsuch currently serves as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, a position he has held since 2006.

Gorsuch’s nomination comes after the Republican-led Senate obstructed the nomination of Merrick Garland, which left the Court short a justice for nearly a year.

The broad civil and human rights community opposes Gorsuch’s nomination because through his career he’s consistently ruled against civil rights, women’s rights, and workers’ rights.
