Sotomayor Confirmation Hearings Conclude
During her confirmation hearings this week, Judge Sonia Sotomayor faced tough questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee, demonstrating that she is a uniquely well-qualified nominee, with a sharp and independent mind and a record of excellence and integrity.
LCCR President Wade Henderson testified in support of Sotomayor's nomination, noting that "Judge Sotomayor has lived the American Dream, and she understands all who aspire to it. Her qualifications are unquestioned; and the lessons that she has learned in her life, as well as in libraries, will serve her and our country well in the years ahead."
If confirmed, Judge Sotomayor will be the third woman and first-ever Latina confirmed to our nation's highest court. The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a vote on her nomination for this Tuesday.
