Congress Gears up for Reform of Crack/Powder Cocaine Sentencing Disparity
Bills recently introduced in the House will eliminate a disparity in federal cocaine sentencing that affects African Americans at much higher rates than Whites. In current federal drug sentencing law, someone who sells crack cocaine faces the same sentence as someone who sells 100 times as much powder cocaine.

More than one in five homeowners are "under water," or owe more money on their house than it is currently worth. In the past year, average home prices fell 14.9 percent nationwide.

One Year After Postville Raid, Immigration Reform Still Needed
Hundreds of immigration reform advocates met this week in Postville, Iowa, to call attention to the one-year anniversary of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid on a Agriprocessors meat packing plant that resulted in the arrest of 389 undocumented workers. Immigrant rights advocates say the raid's anniversary serves as a grim reminder of the need to reform the nation's immigration system.
