Senate Passes Bill That Prohibits Abusive Credit Card Practices

The Senate has passed a bill that will help curb credit card abuses by forbidding credit card companies from unfairly raising interest rates and from imposing unnecessary hidden charges and penalty fees on borrowers. The president is expected to sign the bill this week.

With less than one month to go till the digital television transition on June 12, we're continuing to work in communities around the country that still need help getting ready for the transition. Supreme Court Rejects Pregnancy Discrimination Claim

This week, the U.S. Supreme Court voted to reject a pregnancy discrimination claim in AT&T v. Hulteen. In the case, four female AT&T workers and retirees said that the system used by AT&T to calculate pension benefits should give women who took pregnancy leave before the Pregnancy Discrimination Act was passed in 1978 the same credit for time not at work as employees with other types of disabilities received.
