Indiana Court of Appeals Declares Voter ID Law Unconstitutional
In a major victory for voting rights, the Indiana Court of Appeals struck down a restrictive voter ID law last week that voting rights advocates have long said discriminates against minorities, seniors, and low-income people. The court found that the law violates the state's constitution "because it regulates voters in a manner that is not uniform and impartial."

Civil Rights Coalition Urges Confirmation of Judicial and Executive Nominees
A broad coalition of civil rights groups, including the Alliance for Justice, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, and People For the American Way, is urging senators to eliminate the confirmation backlog of judicial and executive branch nominees, including Tom Perez for assistant attorney general for civil rights and Dawn Johnsen to head the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel.

Witnesses at yesterday's House Education and Labor Committee hearing on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act reaffirmed the need for the passage of this important civil rights legislation. The committee heard from a wide array of witnesses, including Vandy Beth Glenn whose testimony highlighted the devastating consequences of discrimination.
