Washington, DC - Tomorrow, September 15th, Wade Henderson, the executive director of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR) and Supreme Court plaintiff, Beverly Jones, will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee at the confirmation hearing of John Roberts. Henderson will testify on panel II and Jones on panel IV.

In his testimony, Henderson will address John Roberts' lack of commitment to meaningful enforcement of America's civil rights laws, including the protection of voting rights and the banning of gender discrimination. During his testimony Henderson, who leads LCCR, the nation's oldest, largest, and most diverse civil rights coalition, will announce LCCR's official position on Roberts' nomination.

In her testimony, Jones, who lives in Lafayette, Tennessee, will discuss her role in the landmark Supreme Court case Tennessee v. Lane and Jones (2004) - in which she was a plaintiff. The Court's 5-4 decision in Tennessee v. Lane and Jones upheld the right of millions of Americans with disabilities to work with dignity.

Henderson and Jones are available for interviews. For their availability, schedule and more information please contact Mistique Cano at 202-263-2882 or 202-904-7222.
