"We in the civil rights community are pleased that the Senate moved swiftly to confirm Eric Holder as attorney general.
He has shown himself to be a diligent, vigorous enforcer of the law and protector of the rights of all Americans, rich or poor, regardless of political affiliation or ideology.
The Senate's quick action puts in place a leader who can restore morale and return the Justice Department to its historic mission of impartial justice and law enforcement.
Eric Holder has the confidence and backing of the civil rights community and we hope that as attorney general, he will end the politicization and scandals that recently undermined this judicial cornerstone of democracy."
