Acknowledgments
This report is an initiative of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights/Leadership Conference Education Fund's Digital Opportunity Partnership (DOP), a collaboration among civil rights organizations to bring the promise of technology to under-served communities. The Digital Opportunity Partnership would not be possible without the financial support of the AOL Time Warner Foundation, Ford Foundation and Markle Foundation. We value their support and the advice and counsel of their staff: David Eisner, Michele Cavataio and B. Keith Fulton of AOL; Gigi Sohn and Jon Finubiki of Ford; and Zoe Baird, Andrew Blau and Nancy Green of Markle.
Thanks are also due to the Leadership Conference organizations and staff who took time out of their very busy schedules to complete the survey. We look forward to working with them and others in the weeks and months ahead as we harness the power of technology to build a more equitable and just society. Special mention is due Mark Lloyd of the Civil Rights Forum on Communications Policy who has led the way on these issues within the civil rights community.
In preparing this report, LC staff worked closely with Leslie Harris of Leslie Harris & Associates, and her staff, including Jill Bond, Liza Kessler, Ghani Raines, and Aleck Johnson, who took the lead in drafting and administering the survey, drafting the report and coordinating the Technology Forum. Their contributions were substantial and substantive and are deeply appreciated.
This report is first and foremost the work of Brian Komar, Director of Technology and Communications Policy for both the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights and the Leadership Conference Education Fund, who is the driving force behind this report and all of the Leadership Conference's communications and information technology work. Brian was assisted in his efforts by Leadership Conference staff Cory Smith, Joy Paluska, Michael Hawkins, Debra Floyd and interns Sarah Feuer, Purvi Shah and Rachel Zwerin.
Finally, we would like to recognize Perspective Software and Design for their design of the report.
Wade Henderson, Executive Director, LCCR
