1. The following states also have statutes criminalizing interference with religious worship: Arkansas, California, D.C., Florida, Idaho, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia.

2. "Other" includes political affiliation (California, D.C., Iowa, Louisiana, West Virginia), age ( California, D.C., Florida, Iowa, Hawaii, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Vermont), and transgender/gender identity (California, Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Hawaii, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont).

3. States with data collection statutes which include sexual orientation are Arizona, California, Connecticut, D.C., Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas and Washington; those which include gender are Arizona, California, D.C., Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Texas, and Washington.

4. Some other states have administrative regulations mandating such training.

5. The Utah statute ties penalties for hate crimes to violations of the victim's constitutional or civil rights.
